The Interim OEP has responded to Defra’s consultation on amending the Civil Procedure Rules to allow for environmental review. The Environment Bill will create a new court process - environmental review - for the Office of Environmental Protection (OEP) to hold government and other public authorities to account. Establishing a fair and efficient procedure for environmental review can support effective environmental governance. Our consultation response sets out our views on various technical matters raised by the consultation which we consider ought to be addressed in order to create an appropriate process.
